Ethan Green Hawke (born November 6, 1970) is an American actor, writer, and director. He has been nominated for four Academy Awards and a Tony Award. Hawke has directed three feature films, three Off-Broadway plays, and a documentary. He has also written three novels.

Hawke only stars in the original The Purge. Despite mixed reviews, the film topped the weekend box office with a US$34 million debut, the biggest opening of Hawke's career.
